As Americans we go through quite a bit of paperwork. Whether it is personal documents at your home, or business documents, if you think about how much paperwork you dispose of and multiple that by every other person in America it will give you a decent idea of what we are looking at. This isn’t including the fact that most businesses do an annual purge of their records that can be anything from just a few boxes, to thousands of boxes. Thousands!
It has been said that each American uses enough paperwork each year to be the equivalent of a one hundred foot Douglas fir tree. These are just regular people. We’re not talking about busy businesses that are constantly printing out paperwork. This is just each and every one of us in our daily lives. This of course is just an average. There are going to be some people who use less, and there will be some people who use more of course.
This is why it is so important to make sure that you recycle your unwanted paperwork whether it is shredded or not. With the amount of trees it takes to support our paper using habits, it is crucial to make sure that we reuse as much paper as we can. Unfortunately trees aren’t guaranteed to last forever and the more we go through them, the worse it is for our planet!
