Internet Explorer Flaws

A flaw in Internet Explorer has been exposed that will leave your computer vulnerable to takeover. The flaw is in versions from IE5 through the latest beta versions of IE8.

The malicious code is estimated to already be in over 10,000 websites and will expose your passwords.

Microsoft has not issue a fix yet so the only prudent course of action is to move to an alternative browser.  I would recommend the free Firefox.
No Privacy for Public Figures

Two different privacy breaches have been exposed as part of the 2008 presidential election.  Verizon has fired several employees who leaked Barack Obama's cell phone records. Meanwhile several employees of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services have been disciplined for leaking private information about Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe the Plumber."

Beware of who has access to your information.
Hacking Your Credit Card

Many patrons of a sandwich shop in Portage, Michigan may be the victims of identity theft.  The shop was a victim of computer hackers who stole the credit card information the store was transmitting across the internet for verification.

The store and no obvious security flaws.  These smaller stores are often targets because they don't have access to the security professionals of a large company.

You should also be aware that even if you don't use your credit card online for fear of hackers it still up there if you visit many local stores.
