Free Oprah tickets

Free Oprah Winfrey Show tickets is the lastest scam to steal the identities of consumers accoriding to Illinois's Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

The thieves have been sending phishing e-mails asking for personal information, verify financial information or wire money to a third party for tickets to the show, Madigan said.

"With the large number of Oprah's fans worldwide, we are concerned that their excitement at the opportunity to attend a taping of her TV show may result in fans responding to this unauthorized offer," Madigan added.

Medical ID Theft

Byron Hollis, national anti-fraud director of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, explains that the rising number of medical-identity theft reports is an industrywide problem. Although medical-identity theft often goes undetected, the World Privacy Forum estimates that potentially 3.25 million people are victims.

Big Printing Mistake

If you have ever found an error after you had approved a proof for printing then you can feel a bit better today. With only one month left in the year; I think it is safe to award the biggest printing error of 2006 to All Printing & Graphics in Broadview, IL.

All Printing & Graphics, said yesterday that it mistakenly mailed a list of names, Social Security numbers and home addresses of nearly 1,740 former school employees as part of a packet of health-insurance information it was contracted to print for the Chicago Public Schools.
