Identity Theft During the Holidays

We are heading into the holidays but don't let this time of good cheer distract you from protecting your identity. Here are a few things do to help prevent identity theft.
  1. The malls are busy so keep an eye out for pickpockets.  Only carry the credit cards and personal information you absolutely need.  Leave the rest locked up at home.
  2. Watch your credit card statements.  With the extra use of your card it is easier for fraudsters to go unnoticed.
  3. If you shop online make sure you are at a website that has a security certificate and lists their physical address.
  4. Shred all your bills once paid.

Three Stooges Hired to Manage VA Records

What is going on at the VA?  First they get in trouble for losing laptops with tens of thousands of records.  Then they do it again.  Then they shred everything, including records needed for an investigation.  Now they post personal information to a public website.  If it wasn't all so damaging it would be comical.
