Investigators into the largest data theft in recent memory at TJX now believe hackers stole the information though an insecure wireless network at a store.
Hackers pointed a telescope-shaped antenna toward the store and used a laptop computer to decode data between hand-held price-checking devices, cash registers and the store's computers. This data helped them hack into the central database TJX Cos. in Framingham, Massachusets.
Once in the central database they stole information from thousands of customers. The information is known to have been used in Florida.
