Caller ID Spoofing

If you are one of the millions of people who rely on caller id to screen your calls beware.  The ability to change the display on caller id is quite easy. An identity thief in Lancaster, PA used this technique to get people to give out their personal information.

A good rule remains to only give out personal information to people you call.  If someone calls claiming to be from a financial institution you use, take their information and then call the number on your card or statement.  They should be able to forward the call.
