FTC Reaches Agreement with Google

Google has reached an agreement with the FTC over privacy violations when it launched "Google Buzz" in 2010. The agreement "bars the company from future privacy misrepresentations, requires it to implement a comprehensive privacy program, and calls for regular, independent privacy audits for the next 20 years."

The agreement stems for the launch of "Google Buzz." When the service was launched, consumers were given the option to join but the opt-out feature did not work.
