| Another Large Data Theft Announced |

Nationwide Mutual Insurance announced that the social security numbers and health information of 28,279 customers was stolen in an Oct. 26th break-in. The break-in was in at an office of Concentra Preferred Systems, a vendor to Nationwide Mutual. Also taken in the theft was the data of 130,000 Aetna customers.
The data was on backup tapes. It is unclear at this time whether the information has been used fraudulently.

A New Hampshire law that blocks drug manufacturers' access to data that identifies the prescription writing of individual doctors is heading to federal court.
The data was used to hard-sell doctors to use specific brands. If I was a betting man I would say they are after the doctors who choose the most effective drug for the patient instead of the most expensive brand name.

| Fraud Confirmed from TJX Data Theft |

According to the the Massachusetts Bankers Association, customer data stolen from TJX by computer hackers has been used to make fraudulent charges in the United States and overseas.
The fraudulent purchases have been made in Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana, and overseas in Hong Kong and Sweden, the association said.
